4 From the Lopez Wilderness boundary it is a very
nice trail down into Lopez Canyon with plenty of water, and two
designated campsites, Lopez and Sulphur Pots. The trail comes out onto
the Lopez Canyon road an immediate left turn will take you to the Big
Falls trail. If you are on foot, this is the way to go. If you are on
horseback, I cannot recommend this trail. People ride it, but, in a few
places the consequences of a horse losing its footing will be fatal to
horse and rider. A much better equestrian trail is a few miles down the
Lopez Canyon road to the Little Falls trail, both trails will take you
to Hi Mountain Ridge.
